Created entirely by hand using layers of colored ballpoint pen on an 18" × 24" cradled basswood panel. Thousands of intricate, overlapping marks build the portrait, creating a striking balance between recognizable form and controlled chaos.
The natural wood surface remains subtly visible beneath the layers of vibrant ink, adding warmth and texture to the composition. The dense buildup of color and line creates depth throughout the figure, while the loose marks extending beyond the subject preserve the raw energy and spontaneity of the drawing process.
Mounted on a substantial 7/8" cradled wood panel, the artwork has a dimensional presence that allows it to stand confidently on its own without requiring a traditional frame. The rigid wood construction also provides a durable, stable foundation for the original work.
